Treating Sinus Infections And Allergies With The Neti Pot
The exact cause of sinus infections and allergies can have many causes. Some people will only get sinus infections that accompany the flu. When spring time rolls around, pollen is the enemy. If you are having an abnormally large amount of sinus infections each year, you might want to talk to your doctor. This is especially important if you are having frequent headaches and other problems associated with your sinus infections. Your doctor might also suggest surgical intervention in order to provide some relief. Some sinus infections are just that, and they must run their course. However if they are getting in the way of your life on a regular basis, you should also consult with a doctor to see if there is something more serious going on. If you have employed prescription drugs or decongestants that have a minimal effect on your particular sinus problems, then you might want to consider a product that, at least, anecdotally, has provided relief for some of it's users. It is called the Net Pot. The Neti Pot is similar in appearance to a small tea pot. You fill it with warm saline solution, tilt you head to one side, pour the solution into one nostril and let it drain out the other. Using a Neti Pot can be a radical departure from what you normally do to treat your allergies or sinus afflictions. For some, just inserting any type of liquid in your nose can be a very uncomfortable experience. But, some users declare that while it can be somewhat different, it is not an uncomfortable feeling having water flowing through your sinuses. To prevent your "drowning reflex" from kicking in you need to breathe through your mouth while using it. The advantages of using the Neti Pot is that sinus cleansing removes bacteria and virus filled mucous making it difficult for them to thrive. The downside to using a Neti Pot, according to some, is that it could aggravate symptoms. Pouring a salt laden solution in an already inflamed sinus might only increase headache, pain or increase congestion. Others find that the Neti Pot spout is too large to fit properly in their nose. However, everyone is different, and these complaints are only anecdotal. It is best to use the Neti Pot before you get symptoms, or as a daily cleansing ritual. You can read reviews and buy a Neti Pot at Amazon.com. Other information about how to clean the sinuses are explained below.
